Spanish Translation in Paraguay: Spanish to English, English to Spanish Translation.
Asunción, the Mother of Cities, is Paraguay’s capital and gateway to Peru and the rest of South America
Paraguay might be considered a poor country but it is rich in natural resources. It is one of the biggest producers and the fifth largest exporter of soya beans in the world. Its beef is world-renown. The country has the largest drinking water reservoir in the world, the Guarani Aquifer and is the biggest producer of hydroelectric power from the Itaipú Dam.
The history of Paraguay is synonymous with the history of Asunción, the largest city in the country and its capital. Asunción is an autonomous city, formally known as Ciudad de Asunción, with a metropolitan area called Gran Asunción.
While the country was under the Spanish colonial rule for three centuries, it succeeded in retaining its indigenous identity. Hence, Spanish and Guarani are the official languages of Paraguay, spoken all over the country, including the autonomous region of Asunción. The capital city is where more than 10% of the country’s population lives, with a high concentration of productive workforce.
The country, after shedding not only tears but also blood through years of struggle, from independence from Spain to internal struggles from the clutches of a series of dictatorial rulers and the wars against other nations that were caused by a few, Paraguay is slowly struggling to get back on its feet. Its economy has grown by 14.5% in 2010 and the country was ranked third after Qatar and Singapore in economic expansion. Although its economic growth slowed down in 2011, it is still considered healthy.
From years of depending in its agricultural economy, Paraguay is slowly getting industrialized and the manufacturing industries in the country are increasing their production and employment. The viable industries available in the country are attracting local and international investments. With the advent of more foreign investments, the need for language translation and interpretation in the country is very much in demand.
Paraguay is both rural and refined, a natural contrast that could drive away, but most often charm brave and adventure-driven travelers. It is sparsely populated and landlocked, Paraguay lies between Argentina, Bolivia, and Brazil. However, despite that, it has its fascinating and popular getaways, like Lake Ypacarai, which is not far from its main capital, Asunción. About the City of Asunción
The city of Asunción is not one to attract that many tourists, if you are to compare it to other cities in South America that beckon thousands, even millions of visitors annually. However, Asunción is a city waiting to be discovered. It once was the seat of the Spanish colonial empire in the region and had glorious beginnings. It was founded in 1537 on the day of the Feast of the Assumption, which in Spanish is Asunción and from where the city got its name.
Rising from the banks of the Paraguay River, it was the launching area for the exploratory and religious missions of the Jesuits to discover and colonize new places, giving rise to the city’s nickname, Mother of Cities. The city had been prosperous during colonial times, and remnants of its rich history could still be glimpsed from the old buildings whose façades are delicately decorated.
“Asunción is the cultural hub of Paraguay, and its historic center is small enough to be explored on foot. It has several museums, beautiful churches and government buildings and parks. Interesting and colorful birds could be seen eating and flying around the city. Asunción is a great place to buy some souvenir items created by Guarani artisans, including ceramics, woodcarvings, the famous embroidered Ñanduti lace that looks like beautiful spider’s webs and tooled leather. The city is also famous for its beef, asado, mate, cheese buns called chipa, and traditional Guarani cake called mjebu.”
The still very traditional city amid its modernity retained its cultural heritage, with Spanish and Guarani languages being of equal importance and spoken by almost the entire population. English is a language that you would rarely hear spoken in the city. Therefore it is best that you enroll in Spanish language classes before you embark on your trip to the city and the rest of the country, or partner with a reliable, efficient and professional language translation and interpretation service provider if you need to have your documents translated in a timely manner. Localization is a must to be able to communicate and reach your target audience while in Asunción and in Paraguay as a whole. We have a city profile available for you to understand the city better, get a brief look at its history, understand its culture, demographics and economy, as well as have a list of interesting places to visit while in the city. For you interpretation and translation needs, we do hope that you would allow us to be your partner.
